Tips to prevent epoxy resin from sticking
Tips to prevent resin from sticking to the back of your projects 👇🏼
It's important to note that what works best will vary depending on the material you're using. If you're working with a material for the first time, it's always a good idea to do a test run of your resin creation.
For example, I created resin ocean wave ornaments for the holiday season and had some trouble getting the rubbery residue off the back of one ornament. The ornaments were made of dry wood and absorbed a lot of the liquid latex.
Finally, for the last round of ornaments, I decided to use painter's tape and it worked out great!
Here are the top three methods to prevent resin from sticking to the back of your projects:
1. Painters tape - Frog painters tape is a great option that can be found at your local hardware store.
2. Petroleum Jelly - Apply petroleum jelly around the edges of your project with a glove. Once fully cured, use a heat gun to warm up the resin and then use a scraper tool to remove the resin bits. Wipe off any excess petroleum jelly before, after and during the removal process.
3. Liquid latex - Paint a layer of liquid latex where you don't want the resin to adhere to. Once it's fully dried, you can apply resin to your piece. After the resin is fully cured, you can peel off the dried liquid latex.
